CHARACTERS

Shannon played by Danielle Calvert

Eighteen years old, Shannon is a student of Michael’s. She is very shy and struggles to interact with people. Her great strength is art. She is beginning to use Second Life as a way of interacting with people and is hoping to be able to transfer the skills learnt in a virtual world into the real world.
Michael played by Steven Helliwell

Michael is a teacher in his late twenties, teaching at the college near where he grew up. He is sporty, positive and kind, and encourages Shannon to experiment in Second Life in order to gain confidence. He has a great relationship with his Dad, and a great rapport. His relationship with Saira came to an end shortly before she left for medical school and he hasn't seen her since.
Adrian played by Andrew Hobday

In his early fifties, Adrian is Michael's father. He is a single parent, his wife having died when Michael was small. He dotes on Michael and is very proud of him, and talks about him at every opportunity. He is very well-meaning. Currently he is trying to get fit, and relying on Michael to help him.
Saira played by Krupa Pattani

Saira's father used to be a well-known Doctor in the town, and Saira, now in her late-twenties, has returned to work in the same practice that he used to work in. She finds it hard to live up to her father's memory, and to his strong ethical views. She believes like him that 'evidence is everything' and that clinical trials are crucial. She is Shannon's doctor, but is still learning her trade and at time struggles to live up to the expectations she sets herself.
