Dr Olivier Harari

Dr Olivier Harari MA MB BChir PhD MRCP is currently the Clinical Science Leader, Product Development Inflammation, Roche and Honorary Consultant Rheumatologist, Wexham Park Hospital, Slough UK.
Olivier gained a BA Honours First Class in Biological Anthropology (1988), a Bachelor of Medicine (1991), a Bachelor of Surgery (1992), and a Master of Arts (1992) from University of Cambridge (1992) and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Medicine from the University of London (2000). Olivier has been a member of the Royal College of Physicians since 1994.
Olivier has spent six years in doctoral and post-doctoral basic science fellowships, in the field of vascular biology, including Cardiovascular Medicine Unit, Imperial College London and Cardiology, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA (funded by the Wellcome Trust UK) .
Olivier was Honorary Senior Lecturer, National Heart & Lung Institute, Imperial College London and Consultant in Rheumatology and General (Internal) Medicine, Hammersmith Hospital & Charing Cross Hospital, London UK (Mar 2005 – Jun 2007). As an academic clinician Olivier ran a program of translational medicine research, developing positron emission tomography imaging to assess the effects of inflammation in the myocardial vasculature, and in idiopathic myositis. I initiated a biomarker discovery project evaluating flow cytometric analysis of peripheral blood dendritic cells in SLE patients.
As Director Experimental Medicine Immunology, Global Exploratory Development, UCB (July 2007 – Aug 2010). Olivier’s work included leading clinical trial teams, including an early anti-IL-6 antibody candidate from first-in-human to early/exploratory proof-of-concept, designing biomarkers and analysing results (epratuzumab in SLE), contributing translational expertise in analysis of data and preparation of regulatory agency briefing documents. Olivier was responsible for the delivery of clinical development plans to proof-of-concept for all compounds in UCB Immunology preclinical portfolio (biologic and small molecule) and provided portfolio-wide translational therapeutic area expertise to UCB through membership of decision-making/governance bodies: Early Portfolio Board, Immunology Therapeutic Area Strategy Team, Immunology Discovery Research Hub and New Targets Steering Group. Olivier has provided mentorship to UCB Global Exploratory Development study physicians (including supervision of UK Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine registration programs) and represents UCB on pre-collaborative pharmaceutical academic initiatives: Office for Life Sciences UK Life Sciences Super Cluster Pilot, European Commission Innovative Medicines Initiative.
Olivier has had work published since 1996.
